Butter Cake Microwave Recipe


This one is more like steamed butter cake. I reduced the butter and sugar to about 115 gm instead of 150 gm. For the Self-Raising Flour, I added Coconut Flour. I baked in Microwave Oven for 3 minutes, then added 30 seconds for 1 1/2 minutes, turn the cake upside down (bottom was uncooked) and added another 1 minute. In total, 5 minutes ! The verdict - Cake was moist and rised very well.

I also baked the same recipe and used the conventional overn for 45 minutes, the cake came out cracked and a bit too dry. So I would say this microwaved Butter Cake recipe is pretty legit !



Baked 45 mins 180 C 15 mins then 165 C for 30 mins

150 gm Butter
150 gm Castor Sugar
150 gm Self Raising Flour
3 Eggs


  1. Heavily grease the microwavable container (Used the Take-away Rice Box with deeper depth type) with the melted butter.
  2. In a bowl, sift in the self raising flour and white sugar, stir until well mixed. Make a well in the centre. In another bowl, crack the eggs and mix with the melted butter. Stir until well combined. Slowly pour the butter egg solution to the flour, use a tablespoon to mix it until well combined. Transfer the batter to the greased container.
  3. Microwave 3 -5 minutes, start with 3 mins, and add 1 min if still not cooked throuhg.
