Ingredients
2 Tablespoons oil
2 Tablespoons butter
2 medium onions, diced finely
2 Tablespoons garlic, finely grated
2 Tablespoons fresh ginger, finely grated
1 Tablespoon garam masala
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons coriander
2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
14 oz can tomato puree
1 cup whole fat plain yogurt
1-1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Fresh cilantro to garnish (optional)
Directions
Add butter, oil, and onions to a dutch oven and cook onions until caramelized, 20-30 minutes.
Then add garlic and ginger, cook until fragrant
Add all the spices, stir constantly for 2-4 minutes or until spices are fully toasted, be sure not to burn spices
Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 1-2 hours, add water if it thickens too much
Enjoy over rice and topped with cilantro
