Dhal Curry

This recipe is from the good neighbour of Tammy Baker. 


2 and a half handfuls of dhal

1 tbs blended fresh ginger

about 1 big red onion chopped

a few curry leaves, chopped

2 large chillies,

3 cloves of garlic, chopped

1 potato, cubed

Boil a few cups of water and put all the above in it (maybe keep the potato and put it in later)

Add water if necessary so the mixture is not too thick.  After dhal is cooked (soft), do not add any more water.


In a separate pan, sautee:

1 teaspoon biji sawi

1 red onion, chopped

a few curry leaves, chopped

until fragrant

Add to dhal 'stew' mixture once the dhal is cooked


Add santan (about 1 1/2 cups) 

1 tsp serbuk kunyit


Bring to boil & serve!
